Florence Technology Workshop, May 27, 2008

OmA participated in the workshop organized by Paolo Martinez “Culture and Tourism: digital challenges and values for the future”. The proposal for discussion launched by OmA was: create the network of public and private subjects through contacts and comparison. Place the projects and know-how online, starting with sharing one’s projects and plans.

The panel discussion was composed of:
Riccardo Ventrella (Teatro La Pergola), Simona Bezzoli (ECRF), Maria Merlini (qualified tourist guide and in charge of SIENA VIVA), C. Benvenuti (Confindustria Firenze), M Traversi (Firenze Tecnologia), Lucia Pelatti (CNA), C. Mantero (Commune/Province) web services
A. Geroni (Toscana Promozione, Tourism and Front office for business services) A. Bernabei (Seeten TV)
M. Pilar Lebole (OmA Coordinator –Fondazione di Firenze per l'Artigianato Artistico editorial office)

Comments from the panel discussion:
Genio Fiorentino: lack of economic activity and spin-off
2002: positive experience for “theater passes” of La Pergola Theater in Florence
Lack of visibility and signs for information offices in Florence. Arrival at the railway station and no signs to indicate the APT offices
Too many exhibitions and limited to the season
Coordination of the initiatives is needed
Programming of the events is needed
Seeten proposes to insert videos on crafts on the OmA website
Difficulties in booking Florentine museums and at much higher costs at the agencies
the Bargello like the Uffizi, that is interest in a museum such as the Bargello should increase.

Final objective
Create a network though link exchanges. Each one is responsible for their own content. Tools and rules for web managing and construction, a homogeneous structure on which to work
