Archivi della Moda del '900 (20th-century Fashion Archives)
The Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte participates in the project ARCHIVI DELLA MODA DEL ’900 Il patrimonio italiano e internazionale a confronto: cultura, arte, artigianato, territorio, memoria Firenze, Palazzo Pitti (20th -century Fashion Archives. A comparison of the Italian and international heritage: culture, art, crafts, territory, Florence memories, Palazzo Pitti) – Sala Bianca, Monday, January 12, 2009.
Archivi della Moda del ‘900 or 20th -century Fashion Archives is a three-year project aimed at rediscovering and fostering the boundless heritage of the Italian fashion as attested by 20th-century archives. Having been devised by the ANAI or the Italian Association of National Archives – and by the Ministry for Arts and Culture with the participation of several prestigious institutions, the project gives voice to the need to foster and maintain a historical patrimony – as well as an identity – which would otherwise run the risk of being dispersed, and which, yet, is more than ever a vital element for the promotion and innovation of “Made in Italy” products.
The Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte, among the manifold activities carried out to safeguard our traditional, historical and artistic heritage and having special consideration for Florentine excellence in the field of Fashion, boasts well-established collaborations with the Costume Gallery of the Palazzo Pitti and with the Fondazione Roberto Capucci, and, on the occasion of the International Year of Textile Fibres (2009), it is the promoter and organizer of an international congress on the subject.
The Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte wishes for the
proliferation of such projects and initiatives to safeguard and study
our cultural heritage as putting the accent on the preservation of
original memories represents one of the primary objectives of the
activities of the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze.
